Painted built-ins

In my pre-party decorating craze a few weeks ago I decided to paint the inside of our dining room built ins. You can see the before here and here. Here is the after:

built ins

built ins

built ins

As you can see, the color is really bright (I’ve used this same color, Pratt & Lambert Capri Grotto 25-7 in semi-gloss, in the bathroom and on the kitchen peg board before) But when they’re closed the glass really subdues it a lot. I’m happy with the results – it draws more attention to the built ins, and is kind of a pop-y surprise when you open them.

Now I’m thinking about the bookshelves in the living room. Red perhaps?

This blue is so very pretty and I love that little surpise of an idea. Can you tell us more about the chandelier?
