new chair

a hastily taken photo of the new chair I bought yesterday off of Craigslist. I had our vintage fake-Eames lounge here before, but the whole living room was getting a little too MCM for me. The orange chair on the right is my favorite piece of furniture in the house, and I like the way [...]

at last

I *finally* went and bought the paint for the living room paint today – I think I put swatches up . . . four months ago? So I may be rather MIA the next few days, between working, doing homework and trying to paint. Actual before and after pictures will be coming when I’m done.

typewriter

I’ve been rearranging and rotating knick-knacks around here lately. We’re also repainting the living room – I’m really excited about it and hope to be done with the painting by the end of the week. Anyways, one of the things I’ve pulled out of storage is this vintage blue typewriter I picked up on eBay [...]

birthday shelf

This year for my birthday I asked T. for a shelf to go above the living room radiator (yes, I know that I’m weird) and last night he finally put it up for me (I couldn’t find brackets I liked, but finally yesterday decided to settle on some basic ones from IKEA.)

It was much bigger (although the size difference is almost entirely in the arms.) The new one makes the entire room seem bigger, always a nice thing. Although I’m thinking it may need a side table on at least [...]

l-o-v-e

Got a new couch today . . . possibly my best craigslist find ever. I’m kind of totally in love. More later.

new knobs

Now that I’ve switched out the knobs on the living room built-ins (picked up some new ones a few weeks ago,) I need to finally organize the books in them.

I think I’m going to be old-fashioned and do it alphabetically.

Magtable

I love this Magtable from Umbra. As someone whose coffee table is often taken over by piles of magazines, the thought of incorporating them into the furniture is somewhat appealing.

$158 at Umbra.

A note on couches

One of my favorite things to do is fantasize about buying a new couch. This purchase is a long ways off – I’m back in school now, remember? – but a girl can still dream. Our current couch was a craiglist find several years ago, and while it’s not at all ugly it’s not exactly [...]
