Yesterday we got our couch cleaned.*

It’s much cleaner now, but still stained – we bought used it two years ago from a family with two small children.

It’s not the most beautiful sofa in the world, but it is the most comfortable, and when you combine that with the fact that new sofas are out of our price range for the time being, I’ve decided that I’m going to have to make a slipcover for this sucker within the next year. A very big project. Right now I can’t imagine sewing something this big, but I’m sure that I’ll be able to figure it out. Any tips out there?

*We used David Skuse of Organic Choice Carpet Cleaners. I wasn’t home when he came, but he was great over the phone, T. said he was very nice in person, and he did a really excellent job on the couch. He was recommended by a friend of my mom’s, and I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone.

  1. There are surprisingly cheap sofas out there, or have you tried where people get rid of unwanted furniture? Also for any UK readers you can find sofa reviews for people like Akea and Sofa Workshop to get a feel for what you’re going after. If you don’t find a cheap sofa though good like with the slip cover; got any old parachutes lying about? :)
