I have catterpillers eating my mint again:

any advice on how to get rid of them for good (and organically)?

  1. I have the same problem (well, DID). I found a solution that mixes a quart of water, a teaspoon of vegetable or canola oil, and a few drops of Ivory dish soap. I didn’t use Ivory, i just used whatever I had on hand. It’s only been a day or two but I haven’t seen any new bite marks. Shake it all up together in spray bottle and mist both top and underside of leaves. Apparently the vegetable oil drowns the bugs and keeps them off the leaves.

  2. Safer Soap is fine if you don’t eat the mint for a while. Be sure to saturate the soil with it as well. Picking them off diligently will eventually decimate them as well.

  3. Write to the Bug Man -source of great knowledge about insects and what to do to co-exist with them – or not.
